Limiting your search results
You can use the drop boxes in a simple search to limit your results before you search. For example, you can:
- search for all types of items or limit your search to just one type, such as books, journals or audio materials
- search for words independently or search for an exact phrase
- search for words appearing anywhere in the catalogue record, or in one part of it such as the title or author field
- search all Library collections, or limit your search to only digital material, only items on the open shelves, or only items that are maps, pictures or manuscripts.
In an advanced search there are more ways to limit your results, such as searching by publisher name, by publication date or by language.
You can refine your results after you search by clicking on the links under the 'Refine my results by:' heading on the left side of your search result list. Here you can define things like the item's creation date, author and genre.
