What am I searching?
A description of the tab options
There are six tabs at the top of the grey search panel which allow you to search different 'slices' of the Library's collection. This is an outline of what you can search in each tab.
All collections |
Search across all the Library's collections including books, journal and newspaper titles, audio visual materials, maps, pictures, manuscripts and more. You can also search maps, pictures and manuscripts together by selecting this option from the last drop box.
Tip: The 'All collections' tab does not include journal, magazine and newspaper articles. Only the titles of journals, magazines, databases and indexes will appear in your search results. If you are looking for articles, search in the 'Article databases' tab. |
Books & more |
Search across all the Library's collections except maps, pictures and manuscripts, or limit your search to items on the open shelves by selecting this option from the last drop box.
Tip: This search does not include journal, magazine and newspaper articles. If you are looking for articles, search in the 'Article databases' tab. |
Article databases |
Search simultaneously across many of the Library's subscription databases for journal, magazine and newspaper articles.
Tip: You can select a subject area from the last drop box. Please note that some electronic resources are not included in the 'Article databases' tab. To search for more articles and electronic books, go to the Information Databases page. |
Maps |
Search the Library's Map Collection as well as maps, charts and atlases that are held in our other collections. Many of these items are available in a digital format and can be accessed online.
|
Pictures |
Search the Library's Pictures Collection for paintings, sketches, and photos, as well as images from our other collections. Many of these items are available in a digital format and can be accessed online.
|
Manuscripts |
Search the Australian Manuscripts Collection for unpublished papers, letters and diaries. Many of these items are available in a digital format and can be accessed online.
Tip: Check for links to finding aids. Finding aids provide a description of the items contained in a certain box in a collection, and can help you decide whether you would like to request to view an item.
